I recently picked up a book at the library by Ann Patchett titled “What now?”. It’s a slim book of 97 pages based on a commencement address she gave at her alma mater Sarah Lawrence. It chronicles the different paths that her life has taken which have brought her to delivering the address. And her realization that it is the journey of life that is important and not necessarily where you end up.
This is a theme that I, as well as many others, can relate to. When I wrote on my blog earlier in October about my different incarnations, I too was looking at the different paths my life has taken that have led me to this spot. The events, jobs, relationships etc. It’s an introspection that bears doing at points along the way of life. You have to enjoy the journey because once you reach the destination, what are you going to do?
