Mother, writer, former divorcee, wife. But not always in that order.
I’m Jen Cullen.
Mother of two teens and the stepmother of one.
Which means that I’m divorced. (And have been for over a decade.)
And remarried. (And have been for over six years. Hubs owns a restaurant which means I rarely have to cook. But I do all of the dishes.)
Plus I write.
At Life’s Dewlaps, I write about what I know. Which gives me a lot of leeway. Any given week, I might write about divorce and co-parenting, a conversation I had with a member of my family or what I ate for dinner (complete with a recipe). The next week might find me reminiscing about days past, a trip I just went on or even, yes, sex.
And I almost always have a sense of humor about it. Which is helping me get through the teen years, co-parenting and aging.
But I’m sure what you really want to know is where the name Life’s Dewlaps came from.
Well, you know the skin that hangs from an old person’s neck? Or the red inflatable skin on the throat of a lizard?
That’s called a dewlap.
Bet you didn’t know that. I didn’t until my kid came home from elementary school one day and told me.
But now you do.
Just an everyday thing that you can’t define. Until someone defines it for you.
Life is full of things like this. And so is my blog.
Thanks for stopping by. Hope you read something that put a smile on your face or made you laugh or even caused you to shake your head in that “I can totally relate” kind of way.
